New Review!!! Math Facts Now!

Well, hello there!!!  I'm so glad you stopped by!  :)  I bet you'd like to get my posts delivered right to your inbox, now wouldn't you?  So why not sign up for Feedburner?  Check it out, it's right there in my sidebar!  Thanks!!  :)

About the product/service: As part of the TOS Homeschool Crew I received a free download of Math Facts Now so I could let my kids play it and let ya know what we think!  (Math Facts Now is also available on CD.) Math Facts Now is a very simple program (read no animation or goofy characters) which teaches the basic math facts.  Kinda like a digital version of flashcards.  :)

Technical Note:  Math Facts Now runs on Windows 2000, ME, XP, Vista and Windows 7. 4.5 Mb of free hard drive space required. Math Facts Now is not available for Macintosh users at this time.

What are the pros of this product? This is a nice simple program and easy for a kid to use.  It's also very easy to set up the lessons and review progress.  It's very tweakable and parents get to decide what facts are to be studied, how much time a child gets to give the answer, how many times a child must redo an incorrect answer, and how many questions are in each lesson.  Multiple kids from one family can use it, so it's very cost effective.  Oh, and one cool plus is that you can add a little incentive to the lessons.  When you are choosing the lesson you have the option of typing in a reward that will show up when your child correctly completes the work.

What's not to like?  NOTHING!!!  :)  Wow!!!  I had a huge negative, but that has all changed.  Until the product was reviewed by The Crew, each lesson generated had a minimum of 50 questions which was way too many for my kids.  They'd do about 20 or 30 and then start complaining.  Well, one of my crewmates had similar issues and brought it to the attention the company (Why didn't I think of that?) and it is now changed so that each lesson can have as few as five questions.  (Or is it ten?  My mind has failed me momentarily.  LOL)  Anyway HUGE PLUS for me.  Took it from being an "okay" program to a GREAT one!!!  (BTW, if you are a real stickler and WANT your kids to have 50 minimum problems, and want the program to blame, lol, you can actually request the old format!)

The Crazy Mom take:  Again, I had to totally rewrite this section!  When I found out the program had been changed to allow for far less questions, I immediately re-downloaded it.  When I told my youngest son, Baber, he only had to do 10 problems he gave a little "fist pump" in the air and got right on it!  He then did 10 more problems without me even asking!  And I didn't even add any rewards!  LOL

I went from thinking this program was great for kids who loved math to thinking it is great for anyone.  I'm just thrilled with this program!  Originally I had rated it three smileys, but now I have changed it to a perfect 5!  Try it here FREE now!

Happy Math!!!  :)

*The Smiley System:

I can't really recommend this product.

I doubt this product would be helpful to many people.

This is a good product, but isn't right for everyone.

Most homeschool moms will find this useful.

This is great, and I would recommend it to anyone!!!

Disclaimer!!! I reviewed this product because I am a member of The Old Schoolhouse Homeschool Crew. Other than receiving the product, which I kinda have to to be able to assess the product, I am not compensated for my reviews in any way. I am in no way obligated to give a positive review. I do try to point out negatives when I see them, though I am admittedly a pretty easy going gal! What you read are my honest assessments of the products I receive.

  1. Dropping by from the CREW. My girls liked the program too - but only after they had to do just 20 problems!

  2. Dropping by from the Crew, too. Thanks for the heads up on the change in the program! I had not followed that thread and missed it!

  3. I agree with you. The old format was frustrating for younger and/or struggling learners. I am so thankful this company listened to its customers and made the changes to fit our children's needs! Great customer service!
